The Course I Took

I entered college without even learning what courses I should take. I was so confused with what I want to learn and on what I want to do. Before my father died, he mentioned that he wanted me to become a doctor. I took Biology thinking that it would be the best course for me since it is a preparatory course for medicine.

However, I thought wrong. Biology does not inspire me at all. I ended up sleeping when I tried studying for it. For me, it was very boring. Eventually, I shifted to another course, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. I have always loved numbers and analysis. Indeed, learning accountancy was fun and challenging. I finally found the field I wanted to be excellent in. I slowly build my dreams in the world of accountancy. My goal now is to graduate with flying colorsand be in any of the big 4 accounting firms.

Learning Things by Heart

Excellence is the best way to attain success. If we are excellent in the field we are in, success will come running after us. We will not have to look for jobs because it will seek for us instead. That is the beauty of being excellent.
Grades are just numbers and should not make us worry at all. Sometimes, it is enough to get a passing grade. The most important is we learned a lot from the subject. Anyway, our employers will not be after the grades we attained in college, they are after our performance and how well we do our job. If we have not done well in college, we can always strive hard and learn more. The most important is our diligence and perseverance in learning things.
This is also true with entering into any of the big 4 accounting firms. Perhaps, college grades as reflected in our transcript of records will be the basis as we apply for the jobs. Nevertheless, we can always excel from the recruitment process to the job itself if we have learned all the teachings by heart.

A Tough Road

I wonder how it feels like being in one of the big 4 accounting firms. Certainly, being part of these firms would bring me the pride. Only a few are chosen to enter the world of the big four. The road is tougher than anyone can ever imagine. Yet, I am willing to go through the rough road and achieve the goal at the end.

I graduated with a degree in Bachelor in Science in Accountancy. My college days were also tough since the accountancy program in our school followed a strict admission and retention policies. Only few students were able to survive it. I am lucky to be one of the few survivors. My grades were not high though but I made sure that I understand all principles and teachings taught by our professors. I have applied what I learned in my everyday life and eventually passed the board exam. I only hope that I will get a very good job.

Phlebotomy Tech and Its Requirements

The definition of Phlebotomy is taking blood from a living human being or a living animal. A more accurate explanation is to make an incision in the vain. The reasons for doing this may be many and varied. A Phlebotomy Tech is someone who carries out the procedure of Phlebotomy. Sometimes the blood is collected for immediate transfer to another human being or animal or at other times, it is kept in storage for another emergency.

In order to perform various functions such as:
  • Venepuncture and
  • Bloodletting
Venepuncture is obtaining blood from a venous vein and bloodletting is an ancient Chinese practice of letting the blood flow.
So, it is clear that certain qualifications need to be obtained before one is able to perform these procedures and thus an eager student needs to attend medical school to understand Phlebotomy and correctly carry out the procedure. This will enable them to become a Phlebotomy Technician.

It would appear that a Phlebotomist Salary is quite lucrative and worth the effort of taking the required courses to obtain certification.

The average salary in the USA for a Phlebotomist varies from about $9.75 to $12.50 an hour for a first year Phlebotomist. With 10 years or more of experience the salary can reach up to $16.10 an hour. However, it's only once you've had 20 years of experience of drawing blood that you could eventually earn up to $50,000 per annum. But until then the average per annum salary is a little under $30,000.

These figures however, are influenced significantly by the employer and their required level of certification as well as their expectancy of the standard of work performed. Location places a significant role in what a Phlebotomist Salary will be as well.

Together with the Phlebotomist Salary come perks and benefits which include paid holidays and vacations, paid sick days leave, health insurance and perhaps even a reimbursement of recertification courses completed.
